72 years of the Lapierre family

Stone-E-Lea Golf Course opened in 1954 and has remained a Lapierre family course for more than seven decades. Founded by Edward Lapierre, Sr., and his three sons — Eddie, Albert, and Leo — the course has continued through three generations of the family.

Through it all, Stone-E-Lea has been about more than golf. Generations of golfers have made the course part of their weekly routines, family traditions, friendships, and memories.

    Stone E Lea Golf Course Is Founded

    Edward Sr. Lapierre and his wife, Lea, opened Stone E Lea Golf Course in Attleboro, Massachusetts, beginning what would become a three-generation family legacy.

    A Family Tradition Continues

    Edward and Lea’s seven children carried the family business forward. Their sons, Eddie Jr., Albert, and Leo, along with their daughters, Lea, Estelle, Alice, and Irene, each played an important role in operating Stone E Lea as the second generation of the Lapierre family.

    The Third Generation Takes the Helm

    Leo’s sons, David and Steven Lapierre, took over ownership and operations of Stone E Lea Golf Course, continuing the traditions established by their grandfather more than five decades earlier. David’s wife, Rachael, and their daughters, Kayleigh and Georgia, became an integral part of the business, overseeing the daily operations of the clubhouse and welcoming generations of golfers through its doors.

    Remembering David Lapierre

    David Lapierre passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. As a third-generation owner and operator, David dedicated his life to Stone E Lea and played an immeasurable role in shaping the course, its community, and the family legacy that surrounded it.

    The End of an Era

    After 72 years and three generations of family ownership, Stone E Lea Golf Course will officially close its doors. What began with Edward Sr. and Lea Lapierre in 1954 will forever remain a cherished part of the Lapierre family and the Attleboro community
